Abstract. The current paper has presented the analysis of international contracts and agreements concerning the South China Sea in which Vietnam is a party or signatory. There has been shown the interrelationship and impact of international cooperation in the South China Sea region on Vietnamese legislation. The study results have demonstrated that international cooperation in the South China Sea has influenced Vietnamese law through such mechanisms as direct incorporation, the adoption of new or amendment of existing legal acts, counter-lawmaking, and influence on the interpretation of the law in practice.
